The successful candidate has to be an aggressive business builder, a people person with a great personality, quality conscious, driven, professional, detail oriented and highly motivated. He/she needs to possess a BS/BA or equivalent, 3-5 years of proven experience in the food service industry and is actively involved in professional associations.
Responsible for financial closings, account reconciliations, preparation of financial statements and other reports, and additional special financial projects. Ensures quality service is provided to all internal and external Company customers. Prepares the monthly, quarterly and year-end financial closing and prepares AUI’s financial statement book and ratio analysis. Regularly summarizes current and projected Company financial position. Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions. Reconcile balance sheet accounts. Performs expense analyses and reports; both regular and ad hoc. Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities,and capital. In collaboration with the Controller, determines the manner in which GL account structure should be developed or modified. Analyzes the effects of transactions upon account relationships and evaluates alternative means of handling transactions. Interprets the meaning of accounting records, reports, and statements. Projects accounting data to show the effects of proposed plans on capital investments, income, cash position, and overall financial condition. Advises Contoller on accounting issues as they arise. Demonstrates and ensures compliance with accounting and other applicable regulatory compliance programs.
Education / years & type of experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting and at least 4 years of general ledger experience. CPA preferred.
Baseline Knowledge & Skills: Thorough knowledge of Accounting principles and the use of enterprise accounting software. Strong understanding of both accounting theory and practice. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Good team worker; reliable, and detail oriented. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Outlook. Extensive Excel experience required. Has working knowledge of Great Plains software.
Abilities: Ability to work under pressure; ability to handle and resolve recurring problems. Must be willing to help out in team efforts.
Support the development and distribution of marketing and sales material. Specifically, proofreading all written material, including product descriptions, catalogs, letters, recipes, blogs, e-newsletters, labels, and social media posts. Actively interview, research, and look for content of marketing value; this might include taking pictures of interesting events, interviewing guest at the AUI headquarters, and participating in shows and demonstrations. Create flyers, e-newsletters, advertisements, marketing brochures, sales kits, and other promotional material. Answering e-mails from customers, and recording and distributing leads to the sales force. Help to organize and execute corporate events. Act as a support to the Marketing Communications Associate and the VP of Marketing in the tasks of promoting the company, products, events, people, and other activities.
Strong writing and editing skills. Excellent verbal/communication skills, overall a confident speaker. Extremely organized; ability to prioritize work and juggle several projects at once. Detail-oriented. Self-motivation and a desire to learn about the culinary industry; a passion for food is a plus. Journalism and/or creative writing experience. Technology-savvy, especially with respect to websites, e-newsletters, social media. Experience working with Photoshop and/or a willingness to learn. Must be able to work a minimum of 3 days a week.
