CONTROLLER

Gaithersburg, Maryland

Description

AUI’s Controller is primarily accountable for directing the Company’s accounting activities in alignment with corporate strategy, established financial principles and government regulations. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of strategies to achieve AUI’s vision, mission and program goals, and directs the assigned aspects of the operationalization of those strategies. The Controller manages the implementation and maintenance of an internal control system ensuring the integrity of the accounting systems and protects the company’s assets. Ensures timely and accurate reporting of operating results and financial position in accordance with US GAAP. Manages accounting department, including centralized treasury, cash application, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Prepares and is accountable for the design and execution of budgets, forecasts and variation analysis as well as detailed project plans with clear timeframes. Establishes and implements company policy on all tax and accounting related activities, in collaboration with other senior managers. Provides direction and guidance companywide on current tax and accounting issues. Prepares reporting documents for external auditors, governmental entities and banks. Works with all AUI staff on Company-wide and inter-departmental activities and projects, Implement a strong operational infrastructure of systems, processes, people, controls and administrative and reporting procedures. Recruits, selects, leads and develops team members who can successfully interact with all internal and external constituencies. Evaluates performance of staff for compliance with AUI policies and achieving objectives. Encourages teamwork and collaboration within AUI.

Qualifications

Education/ years & type of experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required. An MBA or equivalent is encouraged. Prior experience as Controller or similar position with a $50+ million revenue, entrepreneurial, high-growth organization.

Certifications: CPA preferred but not required

Must demonstrate proficiency and 2+ years of experience with MS Dynamics GP/CRM platform. Current, up-to-date knowledge of GAAP, treasury management, and payroll. Prior experience in an entrepreneurial environment. Hands-on self-starter who is willing to perform multiple tasks, often with limited support. Knowledge of ADP Payroll or similar. Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office products absolutely required. Candidate must have strong inter-personal skills and the ability to interact with, manage, motivate and support department’s staff. Must possess outstanding attention to detail and have excellent organizational skills. Must be able to work in the United States. U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

SR. AR COLLECTOR/CREDIT ANALYST

PRODUCT QUALITY MANAGER

Description

This position is responsible for managing AUI's Total Food Safety & Quality Management system. Holds primary accountability for AUI's achievement/re-certification of the SQF Code/GDP in the "Warehouse & Distribution" Sector Category. Ensures full compliance with FDA, USDA and local government regulations as well as internal policies and procedures. Leads the development, and delivery of food safety, quality assurance, and customer complaint investigation/resolution processes and services within all product lines offered by AUI to its customers, during all hours of operation. Trains all necessary staff members on food safety & product quality. Ensures that the Quality Department collaboratively and closely communicates with Marketing and Culinary staff, Product Innovation, Customer Service and Customers to ensure that food safety/quality control processes and results meet internal and external standards and are well understood. Fosters a high degree of customer loyalty through proactive pursuit and maintenance of the highest quality, and the communication of appropriate solutions to problems that may arise.

Qualifications

Education/years & type of experience:  Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Food Science with Major/Knowledge in Food Safety and Product Quality Management plus a minimum of 3 years of experience managing plant food safety & quality assurance programs (such as SQF Code and GDP), or a combination of supervising or managing plant level food safety and food quality assurance programs and/or working with quality assurance programs inan international wholesale distribution environment. Must be comfortable supervising others.

Certifications, Licenses, Credentials: HACCP certified

Baseline Knowledge & Skills:  Strong interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical skills using statistical and other tools to identify opportunity areas. Creative/analytical problem solving skills. Strong computer skills, including a proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Abilities:  Ability to motivate others.  Must demonstrate discretion, initiative, and follow-through, and have the ability to remain level-headed in challenging situations. Professional assertiveness is required when
dealing with vendors or outside contacts and to ensure internal compliance with objective. Excellent project management, customer management and prioritization skills.

This job requires a consistently high energy level and a proven ability to think quickly. Must have a nuanced appreciation of quality assurance processes and a proven ability to link pertinent statistics to business decision making processes.   Ability to use innovative approaches to resolve complex problems. Solid systems understanding and ability to identify improvement opportunities.   Ability to react to situations with a strong sense of urgency.

Must be able to work independently and as a team-member within a multi-department organization. Must be able to prioritize multiple projects in a busy environment accurately, efficiently, and with a high level of attention to detail, balancing and satisfying competing deadlines and personalities, maintaining professionalism under pressure and in sensitive and difficult situations.  Requires ability to exercise a high level of discretion and confidentiality (in interactions with both internal and external people) concerning all work-related information, plus the ability to maintain detailed records in computerized and paper record keeping and filing systems.   Ability to know when to ask questions and when to take initiative.

PURCHASING MANAGER

Description

Responsible for the procurement of foreign and domestic goods and services at the best possible price and at the highest level of quality. Responsible for maintaining optimal stock levels in all warehouses.  Ensures timely replenishment to avoid out of stock situations. Coordinates the quality control prior to receiving and distributing the products. Creates and maintains long-term vendor relations. Participates in the selection of new products and vendors.  Maintain the highest level of professional conduct with suppliers and employees of other departments. Assists with legal issues relating to duty, import permit, licenses and trademarks.

Qualifications

Education / years & type of experience: A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business Administration or related Majors plus at least 4 years of experience in material procurement.

PAYROLL SPECIALIST

Gaithersburg, Maryland

Description

As a member of the Finance team, perform daily payroll department operations. Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely. Process bi-weekly and monthly multi-state payroll, calculate adjustments as needed for retro pay rate changes, severance packages, etc. Accrue payroll liabilities, establish and maintain payroll records and books. Prepare monthly payroll reports, investigate and solve payroll discrepancies. Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance. Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary. Develop and distribute ad hoc financial and operational reporting as requested. Process manual checks as needed. Process 401K related transactions, update and reconcile statements from ADP. This position will impact a rapidly growing organization,

Qualifications

The ideal candidate must have Associate or Bachelor degree and 5+ years of payroll experience including working with ADP processing and report generation. Experience processing multi-state payroll. Working knowledge of payroll best practices. Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations. Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel. Strong work ethic and team player. Must have a high degree of professionalism and the ability to deal sensitively with confidential material. Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills. Ability to communicate with various levels of management. Decision making, problem solving and analytical skills, a must. Organizational, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills required. Working knowledge of MS Dynamics/GP is a plus. The ideal candidate should be willing to perform other Finance/Accounting functions as required.

WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT MANAGER

Baseline Knowledge & Skills: Knowledge of modern warehousing techniques including logistics, special handling/storage requirements and shipping alternatives.
