HUG History
Swiss tartlet maker HUG knows what it takes to be at the top of its game. Quality and consistency, these two things can always be found in every HUG product.
Founded by 26-year-old Joseph Hug, this family-owned company opened its first bakery in Lucerne in 1877. Quickly developing a reputation for fine breads, their product line was expanded to include dessert decorations such as fan and rolled wafers.
Nearly 20 years ago, pioneer Albert Uster approached this century-long leader in biscuits and crackers to develop high quality baked tartlets for chefs in America. Today, this long-standing partnership continues to flourish through dependability and high quality baked goods.
In 1992, HUG again expanded its collection of specialties and created patty shells and sweet and savory tartlets. These versatile items can be used to create beautiful hors d’oeuvres, side dishes, and desserts, as well as pre-baked, deep-frozen mini pizzas and mini quiches. HUG also offers an assortment of honey nut, sugar, cinnamon and almond cookies.
Today, the fourth HUG generation carries on the tradition of excellence in fine, innovative baking.
