Chairwoman - Board of Directors
AUI is both excited and honored to announce that Jeanne Weaver Ruesch has assumed the role of Chairwoman. Mrs. Ruesch has been a key member of the board since she joined the company in March of 2005 taking over the position held by her late husband. With a vast array of expertise, as well as active charity work, Mrs. Ruesch brings exceptional and infinitely valuable business experience in her new position.
Mrs. Ruesch serves as Chair of the Ruesch Family Foundation, a charitable entity in the Washington region, founded in 2004 by her and her late husband, Otto J. Ruesch. Prior to the foundation’s founding, Mrs. Ruesch proudly served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Ruesch International,an international financial services company providing global payment solutions for corporations worldwide, thus cementing her place among the utmost elite and recognizable of business women.
Mrs. Ruesch is Immediate Past-Chair of the Corcoran Museum and College of Art Board of Trustees, a Trustee of Georgetown University, the National Symphony Orchestra, Catholic Charities Foundation, The Washington Performing Arts Society, and Arts for the Aging. Additionally, Mrs. Ruesch serves on The Kennedy Center International Committee on the Arts and Holy Trinity Catholic Church Finance Committee. She is also a member of the Committee of 200.
With her late husband, she Co-Chaired the 2004 Catholic Charities Foundation’s 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee Gala and additionally co-chaired the Kennedy Center’s 2001 Spring Gala. Both she and her husband were named Outstanding Volunteer Fundraisers in 1999 by the DC Chapter of Professional Fundraisers, were honored by Support Our Aging Religious (SOAR) with their 2001 SOAR! Elizabeth Ann Seton Award, and were recipients of the 2002 So Others Might Eat (SOME) Humanitarian Award and the 2004 Catholic Charities Voice of Hope Award, and the 2008 Providence Hospital Advocate Award. Mrs.
Mrs. Ruesch’s newly assumed position is welcomed and celebrated by her colleagues on the board: Ruedi Scherer, Hans Peter Uster and Philipp Braun, CEO and President of Albert Uster Imports. Mr. Braun assumed this role in 1998, when the late Albert Uster became Chairman of the Board. In the years since, Mr. Braun has enhanced Albert Uster Imports’ strong foundation of quality products and service beyond comprehension, and doubled the company’s revenue.
"It is extremely important to recognize the legendary and unique role Albert Uster played in bringing gourmet products to the American market." Mrs. Ruesch stated, reflecting on the magnanimity of her predecessor. “He created a legacy in the food service industry and will long be remembered. Albert Uster Imports is a tribute to his vision. I speak for the entire Board in reiterating AUI's commitment to excellence—in products, in customer relationships and in service. We continue to be extremely optimistic about our growth and will stay the course with our plans for expansion."
